2026 at Halfway House: From YouTube to Presents, What a Year!

As we come towards the end of 2026, we’ve been thinking about everything that makes running Halfway House so special.

There are the pitches to look after, the grass to cut, the everyday jobs and the plans that always seem to lead to another list. But when we look back, the things we remember most are the people.

The conversations. The laughter. The kindness. The guests who arrive for the first time and the familiar faces we’re delighted to welcome back.

We might only have five pitches, but the people who fill them—and those who follow our adventures from home—make this little place feel much bigger.

So, this is our chance to say a proper thank you.

From watching on YouTube to joining us on the pitches

Our Behind the Pitches videos have given us a way to share more of life at Halfway House, including the work that happens around the stays and between the seasons.

There’s always something to do on a campsite. Some jobs make a difference you can see straight away; others take plenty of time before there’s much to show for them. Sharing that journey on YouTube lets us bring you along as we work things out, get stuck in and think about what comes next.

By October, we were sharing episode 48, which gave us a moment to think about just how much we’ve put in front of the camera!

But the lovely part is knowing people are taking an interest. Every time someone watches, leaves a comment or mentions a video, it makes the effort feel worthwhile.

If you’ve followed along from your sofa, watched while away in your own caravan or discovered Halfway House through YouTube, thank you. You’ve become part of the conversation, even if we haven’t met in person yet.

And if watching has made you think, “We’ll have to give that little site a try,” we hope we’ll get to welcome you through the gate.

Five pitches, so many different people

One of the pleasures of having a small site is getting to know our guests.

Everyone arrives with their own plans. For some, it’s a chance to slow down and enjoy a quiet few days. For others, it’s a base for exploring Louth and the surrounding countryside, getting out with the dog or spending time together away from the usual routine.

We love hearing what brings people here and what they’ve enjoyed during their stay. Those everyday conversations are a big part of the pleasure of running Halfway House.

To everyone who chose us for a break in 2026, thank you for trusting us with a little piece of your holiday time. We know those days away matter, and we want you to feel welcome from the moment you arrive.

And to our returning guests, it’s always lovely to see a familiar face coming back. Hearing that someone wants to spend another stay with us is something we never take for granted.

From kind words to thoughtful presents

The generosity of people continues to mean so much to us.

Sometimes it comes in the form of a present. Sometimes it’s a lovely message, a recommendation or a few kind words at the end of a stay.

We never expect gifts, which makes receiving something thoughtful all the more touching. Knowing someone has taken the time to think of us is a lovely feeling. To everyone who has brought us a present or shown us kindness, thank you.

We’re grateful for the gestures that might seem small to the person making them, too. Taking a moment to write a review. Telling a friend about the site. Sharing a Facebook post. Leaving an encouraging comment on a video.

For a small family business, those things help people find us and give us encouragement as we keep working on the place.

We read your words, we appreciate the support, and we remember the thought behind it.

The moments between the jobs

There’s a practical side to campsite life that keeps us busy, but it’s often the unplanned moments that make a day.

A quick hello that turns into a proper chat. Someone telling us about their travels. A funny story that gives us a laugh when we’ve still got a list of jobs waiting.

Those are the moments that are hard to capture in a photograph or explain on a booking page. You can show a pitch and describe the facilities, but the atmosphere comes from the people who are here.

That’s why we feel so grateful for the guests who help make Halfway House a friendly place to spend time. Everyone brings something of themselves, and over a season those little moments add up.

When we look back on the year, there will be jobs we’ve forgotten doing. We’ll remember the people who made us smile while we were doing them.

A year through the seasons

Our October Facebook post about a whole year at the campsite got us thinking about how much changes as the months go by.

The site has a different feel through each season. There’s the preparation and anticipation, the pleasure of seeing people arrive, and the quieter moments when there’s time to take stock.

Living and working through that cycle gives us plenty to reflect on. We see what works well, listen to what guests tell us and think about the improvements we’d like to make.

There’s a lot of satisfaction in looking around and seeing the results of time and care. And there’s always another idea waiting for us to get started!

Thank you for taking an interest in that side of Halfway House as well. We enjoy sharing the progress with you, including the stages where something is still very much a work in progress.

Looking ahead to 2027

We’ve already started sharing our plans for a new social area in 2027, and we’re excited about what it could bring to the site.

We want to create somewhere welcoming to get together, have a chat and enjoy an evening. Somewhere that feels at home here and gives guests another opportunity to spend time in good company.

We’ve enjoyed inviting your ideas, too. You’re the people who come and stay, so hearing what you would like to see is a valuable part of planning it.

There’s still plenty to work through, and we’ll keep sharing the journey on Behind the Pitches. We’re looking forward to seeing the plans take shape and bringing you along as they do.

To everyone who has been part of our year

Whether you stayed for the first time, returned for another visit, watched our videos or followed our Facebook posts, thank you for being part of Halfway House in 2026.

Thank you for the bookings, the recommendations and the thoughtful presents.

Thank you for the messages, the conversations and the laughs.

And thank you for taking an interest in what we’re building here. It means a great deal to have people encouraging us and looking forward to what comes next.

From YouTube to presents, from a first hello to a cheerful “see you again”, you’ve given us so much to appreciate this year.

We’re looking forward to welcoming familiar faces, meeting new people and making more happy memories in 2027.

With love and thanks,
