We got Inspected!

We have some incredible news to share with you all! After months of hard work, landscaping, and perfecting the guest experience here at Halfway House, we recently underwent our official Visit England / AA assessment.
We are absolutely thrilledâand a little bit shockedâto announce that we are now the proud owners of a 5-star Caravan and Touring Park rating!
The Surprise Visit
In true "mystery shopper" fashion (though we were told they don't do secret stays for 5-van sites!), we only had about 12 to 13 hours' notice before our assessor, Tom, arrived. He gave us a call at 5:00 PM on a Thursday and was at our gates by 8:30 AM the next morning.
The goal was simple: treat him exactly like any other guest. We showed him the grounds, the facilities, and our check-in process, all while he meticulously marked us across several categories.
How the Scoring Works
To hit that coveted 5-star status, a site needs to score between 87% and 100% overall. The assessment covers everything from cleanliness and reception services to the quality of the pitches and the grounds.
What the Assessor Loved (The 5-Star Highlights)
We were blown away to receive 100% for cleanliness across the entire siteâincluding the reception, park grounds, and our new toilet and washing facilities. Some of the highlights from the report included:
The Welcome: Our pre-arrival information and personal "meet and greet" were praised for providing a warm and attentive start to the stay.
The Grounds: The assessor loved the "smart" feel of our festoon lighting and noted that our signage is clear and consistent throughout.
The Facilities: Our new unisex toilet and shower facilities were described as modern, stylish, and exceeding guest expectations.
The Little Touches: Even our "rainy day" umbrellas and the carefully designed low-level lighting (to preserve those amazing Lincolnshire night skies!) were noted as thoughtful additions for guest comfort.
Room for Improvement
Even with a 5-star rating, thereâs always room to grow! We got some honest feedback on a few areas where we were marked down:
Pitch Surfaces: Because weâve chosen to keep our pitches as beautiful natural grass rather than hard-standing, we dropped a point there.
The Elsan Point: Weâre planning to build a canopy over the chemical disposal point soon to keep you dry while you work!
Lighting: While we purposefully keep the campsite dark for stargazing, the assessment criteria prefer a bit more illumination. Weâre sticking with the stars for now!
