Halfway There?
Halfway There!
A quick little update from Us all at Halfway House!
1/17/20263 min read
As we look ahead to the 2026 season, we wanted to share an update from us all here at Halfway House, and talk a bit about where the site is heading – and how Behind the Pitches has played a big part in that.

If you’ve stayed with us before, you’ll know we’re always improving things in a steady, sensible way. We don’t rush jobs, and we don’t change things just for the sake of it – but each year we aim to make Halfway House a little bit better than the last.
Showers for 2026 – Our Main Focus
By far the most common thing we get asked about is showers, and for 2026 this is our number one priority.
Over the coming months we’ll be carrying out a proper overhaul of the shower and toilet block, with the focus on:
having shower facilities
Making them more comfortable and reliable
Updating areas that have had a lot of wear over time
This isn’t about patching things up – it’s about doing it properly and bringing the facilities up to a standard we’re genuinely happy with and proud to offer.
The Wooden Shed – Fully Rendered
Alongside the facilities work, the wooden shed on site will be fully rendered. This will smarten the area up and help everything tie in better visually as the site continues to evolve.
It’s part of a wider effort to keep the site looking tidy, cared for, and well thought out, without losing the character that makes it what it is.
A Small Viewpoint – When Things Quiet Down
Right at the top of the field there’s a little spot with some great views, especially in the evenings. When things are quieter during the season, we’d like to turn this into a small viewpoint.
Nothing fancy:
A bench or possibly a swing
Somewhere peaceful to sit
A nice place to watch the sunsets
This is very much a when time allows project, but it’s something we’d love to add over time as a quiet place to enjoy the surroundings.
Why We Started Behind the Pitches
We started Behind the Pitches (our youtube channel) because we wanted to be open about what actually goes on behind the scenes of running a small, family-run touring site.
There’s a lot of work that happens away from the pitches, and we wanted to show:
The real improvements as they happen
The challenges as well as the wins
Why certain decisions get made on site
if it would effect our occupancy ( Free advertising)
What we didn’t expect was just how useful it would become.
How It’s Really Helped
The feedback we’ve had through Behind the Pitches has genuinely shaped Halfway House. A lot of what we’re doing for 2026 – especially around facilities – comes directly from your comments, messages, and conversations with you all.
We’ve also been blown away by:
The hours you’ve spent watching the videos
The suggestions and encouragement
The interest in what we’re building here
It really does make a difference and helps us make better decisions for the site.
Keeping You in the Loop
Not everyone has time to watch the vlogs, and that’s completely understandable. Because of that, updates like this may become a monthly thing, just to keep you in the loop even if you don’t follow Behind the Pitches.
Think of it as a written version of the vlogs – honest, straightforward, and keeping you up to date with what’s going on and what’s coming next.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Bookings for 2026 are already coming in and we’re starting to fill up.
If you’re thinking of coming to stay with us in 2026, we’d really recommend booking now to avoid missing out on your preferred dates.
From Ged & Julia, and all the Halfway House family, thank you for your continued support, feedback, and for taking the time to follow along with what we’re doing here – whether that’s through the vlogs, these updates, or by staying with us.
We’re looking forward to welcoming you back and making 2026 our best season yet.
See you soon,
Ged & Julia
