Ready to Open (Just Waiting on the Weather!)
Ready to Open (Just Waiting on the Weather!) 🚜

Over the winter months we’ve been busy behind the scenes here at Halfway House Touring, working hard to improve the site and get everything ready for the upcoming camping season.

If you’ve been following our Behind The Pitches YouTube series, you’ll know there has been plenty going on around the campsite. From new facilities to landscaping and general improvements, it’s been a very productive few months.
Now, we’re almost there… and the site is virtually ready to open.
Brand New Shower & Toilet Block
One of the biggest upgrades this year has been the construction of our new shower and toilet block.
We wanted to make sure our facilities offered a clean, modern and comfortable experience for everyone staying with us. The new block has been designed with practicality in mind while still keeping everything easy to maintain throughout the busy camping season.
To finish the building properly, the exterior has now been fully rendered, giving it a clean, smart appearance while also protecting the structure from the weather. Rendering helps keep the building durable and weather resistant, which is particularly important with the unpredictable Lincolnshire climate.
The finished result looks fantastic and really lifts the overall feel of this part of the campsite.
New Roller Shutter Doors Installed
As part of the new facilities building, we’ve also installed roller shutter doors.
These provide secure and practical access to service areas and storage spaces within the building. Having proper access for maintenance equipment makes it far easier to keep everything running smoothly and ensures the facilities can be cleaned and maintained efficiently.
They also give the building a modern and professional finish, tying in nicely with the new rendered exterior.
A New Arrival Area for Campers
Another improvement we’ve been working on is the creation of a new arrival area for visitors coming onto the site.
First impressions matter, so we wanted to make sure the arrival experience is simple and well organised. Campers will now have a clear place to pull in when they arrive, allowing them to check in and get settled before heading to their pitch.
This helps keep the entrance area organised and avoids congestion during busy arrival times.
New Reception Area
Alongside the arrival area, we’ve been building a new reception space for the campsite.
This will act as the main hub for visitors when they arrive. Whether you’re checking in, asking for recommendations about local places to visit, or simply saying hello, the reception area will make the whole experience much more welcoming and organised.
We’re aiming to keep the same friendly, family-run atmosphere that Halfway House Touring is known for, while also making the site easier and more efficient to run.
The First Grass Cut of the Season
With a few dry days finally appearing, we were able to get the machinery out and start cutting the grass across the site.
For anyone who runs a campsite, the first grass cut of the year always feels like a big milestone. After months of winter weather and construction work, it’s the moment when the site finally starts looking like a campsite again.
The pitches are beginning to take shape and the whole place is starting to look tidy and ready for visitors.
Safe to say Ged was a happy man when the mower started rolling.
Almost Ready to Welcome Campers
With the new facilities complete, the building rendered, roller shutters installed, and reception area taking shape, the campsite is now virtually ready for the season.
The final steps are mainly weather dependent. We just need a good spell of dry weather so we can finish preparing the pitches and carry out the final tidy-up across the site.
Once that’s done, we’ll be ready to welcome campers back to enjoy everything Halfway House Touring has to offer.
Follow the Journey – Behind The Pitches
All of the progress happening around the site is being documented in our Behind The Pitches YouTube series, where you can see the real story of building and running a family campsite.
From tractors and groundwork to the funny moments that always seem to happen along the way, it gives a genuine look at life behind the scenes here at Halfway House.
See You Soon
After months of hard work over the winter, it’s fantastic to see everything finally coming together.
We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Halfway House Touring, enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the Lincolnshire Wolds, and continuing to grow the friendly community that makes this place special.
Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates — opening day is just around the corner.
